Three Clinics in Donggyo-dong
North of the river, Naver Place showed just three plastic surgery clinics for “Hongdae plastic surgery” on 16 September 2026, all in Donggyo-dong, Mapo-gu. No ads appeared.
Hongdae sits in Mapo-gu, well outside the Gangnam belt, and the difference shows. On September 16, 2026 a Naver Place search returned only three non-ad plastic surgery clinics here, against eleven each in Gangnam and Apgujeong. That is what Naver actually showed. We have not padded it with neighbouring areas or ad placements to make it look fuller, and one further clinic listed under dermatology was left out because this record covers plastic surgery only.
Rather than a table for three rows, each clinic gets a short paragraph with the same details Naver displayed: position, location, review counts, listed specialists and the clinic’s own tags.
None of the three clinics pays us anything, whether for inclusion, for its place in the order or for patients, and this site does not take bookings or enquiries on any clinic’s behalf. Our Commercial Disclosure sets this out in full.
Donggyo-dong, clinic by clinic
Position 1 went to a clinic Naver listed under dermatology, which falls outside this record, so the list starts at 2. Dream Face Clinic (드림페이스의원) came up at position 2. It is in Donggyo-dong, Mapo-gu and marked wheelchair accessible, with 727 visit reviews and 470 blog reviews. Naver lists no specialists for it. Its tags centre on the eyes: #double eyelid reversal #double eyelid lowering #revision double eyelid #under-eye fat repositioning #eye surgery. Open in Google Maps or Open in Apple Maps.
Bomnun Piuda Clinic (봄눈피우다의원), position 3, is also in Donggyo-dong, Mapo-gu. It shows 436 visit and 262 blog reviews, no listed specialists, and a broader spread of tags: #mouth corner filler #lifting #eye surgery #lip surgery #dermatology. Open in Google Maps or Open in Apple Maps.
Allure Plastic Surgery (얼루어성형외과의원), position 4, in Donggyo-dong, Mapo-gu, is the only one of the three for which Naver lists a specialist (1 plastic surgeon). It has 212 visit and 90 blog reviews, and tags itself #plastic surgery #hyperbaric oxygen therapy #Density lifting #skin booster & weight loss #Sinchon dermatology filler. How this Hongdae record was built

With so few entries, it is tempting to treat the order as a verdict. It is not. Naver arranges results by its own algorithm (review volume, activity, relevance and factors it does not publish). Review counts are volume rather than quality, and blog reviews can include sponsored posts. The specialist line is Naver’s listing, not a register check, and tags are simply what each clinic chooses to promote. Results change, too; this is one dated snapshot. Dream Face Clinic leads on both review counts here, which says more about visibility than about outcomes.
Each paragraph above links to Google Maps and Apple Maps, so the locations can be checked independently before you decide whether a trip across the river is worth it.
Nothing here is a ranking, a “best clinic” pick or a referral. Our Editorial Policy and Korean Review & Local Information Methodology explain why we publish records in this form.
If you want more choice
If clinic choice matters more to you than staying north of the river, the Gangnam-gu lists are substantially deeper, including Cheongdam and Samseong-dong. Those records were built the same way as this one, from the same Naver Place source on the same date, so the counts can be read side by side. For background on why Korea has so many clinics in the first place, see why international patients look at Korea.
Why Hongdae shows so few clinics
Plastic surgery in Seoul is concentrated south of the river to a degree that surprises many visitors. A 2020 count reported by the Korean medical newspaper Docdocdoc (청년의사) put 400 of Seoul’s 530 plastic surgery clinics in Gangnam-gu, roughly three in every four. Mapo-gu, where Hongdae sits, is known for something else entirely: the streets around Hongik University are associated with street art, indie music and clubs, and a three-clinic search result fits an area that has never been a surgery district.
The deep clusters are across the river. Our Gangnam record found eleven organic clinics spread over Sinsa-dong, Yeoksam-dong and Nonhyeon-dong, and every one of the eleven results in the Apgujeong record carried a Sinsa-dong address. If you want to sit through several consultations in one day, those streets make it practical in a way Hongdae does not.
Getting to Hongdae, and from Hongdae to Gangnam
Hongik University Station, called Donggyo station until it was renamed after the university, is served by three lines: Seoul Subway Line 2, the Airport Railroad (AREX) and the Gyeongui-Jungang Line. That makes Hongdae one of the easier parts of Seoul to reach from the airport. AREX all-stop trains run from Incheon International Airport to Hongik University Station with no change, and route planners put the ride at roughly an hour; the same line also calls at Gimpo International Airport. For consultations in Gangnam, a single Line 2 train links Hongik University Station with Gangnam Station, with journey estimates of about 40 minutes.
Recovering in Hongdae: practical points
Hongdae is lively to stay in and noisy after dark, so if you plan to rest here after a procedure, ask for a room facing away from the main streets and check the walk to the nearest station exit. Before booking nights, ask the clinic in writing how many follow-up visits it expects and on which days, because stitch removal, dressings and check-ups decide how long you need to stay close by. If the clinic is in Gangnam but you prefer Hongdae accommodation, each check-up becomes a cross-city trip of about 40 minutes in each direction.
Two helplines are worth saving before you arrive. The Korea Tourism Organization’s 1330 Travel Helpline answers 24 hours a day in Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese, Thai and Malay/Indonesian, and can connect callers to emergency services (119) or immigration (1345); from a foreign phone, dial +82-2-1330. The government’s Medical Korea call line, +82-2-1577-7129, answers from 9 am to 6 pm Korean time every day and can help with information on medical institutions and with complaints. Its walk-in information centre is on basement level 2 of the Airport Railroad station at Seoul Station, on the same AREX line as Hongik University Station.
Check it yourself
We searched “홍대 성형외과” on Naver Place; you can repeat it at m.map.naver.com, though Naver’s order shifts constantly and may mix in paid placements. Naver Place is a commercial directory, not a registry, so it says nothing about licensing. For that, use the government’s English-language registered institution list. Registration is what allows a clinic to recruit foreign patients, directly or through agencies, and it requires malpractice cover of at least 100 million won; an unregistered clinic may still treat a foreign visitor who comes in independently. Board certification can be looked up in the Korean Association of Plastic Surgeons’ English specialist search, which lists member surgeons only, so an absent name needs a second check. It matters because any licensed Korean physician may legally perform cosmetic procedures without it. We have not checked the specialist figure above against the national register.
Our step-by-step guide, How to Verify a Korean Plastic Surgery Clinic Yourself, also covers KAHF accreditation, the legally binding posted price list, and what cannot be verified about Korean clinics at all.
Hongdae clinics: common questions
Is Hongdae a good area to look for plastic surgery in Seoul?
That depends on what you need from it. Naver Place showed three plastic surgery clinics here on 16 September 2026, so there is little to compare locally. Hongdae’s advantage is transport rather than choice: a direct airport train and a one-train Line 2 ride to Gangnam, where most of Seoul’s clinics are.
Can I get from Incheon Airport to Hongdae without changing trains?
Yes. The AREX all-stop service calls at Hongik University Station, and route planners estimate about an hour for the trip. AREX express trains run nonstop to Seoul Station and do not stop at Hongik University, so take the all-stop train.
Does this record include every clinic in Hongdae?
No. It reflects one Naver Place search on 16 September 2026, with ads excluded and a dermatology listing left out. Clinics Naver did not show that day, or that have opened since, are not here.
How do I check whether one of these clinics is registered for foreign patients?
Search the clinic’s Korean name in the Medical Korea registered institution list, then check the operating surgeon separately, because a clinic listing tells you nothing about the individual doctor. How to Verify a Korean Plastic Surgery Clinic Yourself walks through each step.
Three clinics, recorded as Naver showed them
- Order is Naver’s, not a quality judgment.
- No paid placements appeared in this search.
- Review counts reflect visibility; blog posts can be sponsored.
- The one specialist figure is Naver’s and unverified.
